Chip Kelly On College Rumors: 'It's Silly'

By Andrew Porter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- On Monday, 94WIP's Marc Farzetta reported that the University of Florida was going to contact Chip Kelly about their head coaching vacancy. The report went viral and spurred national talk about whether Kelly would consider returning to college.

Kelly said Florida has not contacted him and even if they did, he would not answer.

"I laugh," Kelly told reporters on Wednesday, when asked about the college rumors. "It's silly. 'Cause it's a rumor, it's not the truth, so I think things that are false are silly."

Kelly's Eagles are 9-3 and in first place in the NFC East, poised to make a run in the 2015 NFL playoffs. Kelly, who is 19-9 in 28 regular season NFL games, explained he's happy with his situation.

"My feet are right here and that's all we have to talk about," Kelly said. "So, I can't control what other people think or what other people write. So, I've never been concerned with, never will be concerned with it. I've been very, very fortunate in my career. Everywhere I've been has been a great situation. I had an unbelievable opportunity when I was at New Hampshire and I loved it and I could have stayed there for the rest of my life. And then same thing at Oregon. I loved Oregon, I love those players, they get an opportunity to play for a Pac-12 championship this Friday night. I love that group, I love that coaching staff, I love being in Oregon, I loved everything about it, but I had an opportunity to come here."

"So, I've been very happy everywhere I've been and I'm happy being here now," he continued. "You're still going to have rumors about where your gonna go and all those other things, but like I said just like a lot of situations, no one has ever asked me."
