The Coast Guard says the employee reported three crewmembers fell into the water after a crane barge capsized. The barge was attached to the dredge Essex.

The Coast Guard says two of the men resurfaced from the water while Gatling remains missing.

Sector watchstanders dispatched a 25-foot Response Boat-Small crew from Coast Guard Station Philadelphia. Local fireboat crews are also searching for Gatling.

The Coast Guard says Gatling was reportedly wearing an orange float coat.

Around 11:15 p.m., the Wilmington Fire Chief said based on the wreckage and water conditions dive operations have been suspended until further evaluation can be done at daybreak.  He says crews will continue to conduct surface searches throughout the night.
