Weekend Box Office Report: The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1 Holds Top Spot

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Moviegoers stayed hungry for The Hunger Games over Thanksgiving weekend.
The dystopian fantasy, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1, remained the box office leader for a second weekend in a row after scoring the year's biggest opening last weekend.
On its second weekend of release, the second sequel earned an estimated $57-million, a lot lower but still hefty take.
The second and third slots went to animated attractions:
The debuting comedy, Penguins of Madagascar, was the runner-up with $26-million, while the holdover adventure, Big Hero 6, took in $19-million.
And rounding out the top five were the holdover science fiction epic, Interstellar, and the new comedy sequel, Horrible Bosses 2, each with a total of $16-million.
Industry-wide totals were about 20 percent lower than last year's record-setting holiday weekend.
