The Center Of Attention: The Offensive Line 'Is Getting Better Each Week'

By Joseph Santoliquito

Jason Kelce, one of the NFL's top centers, shares his weekly thoughts with CBS Philly's Joe Santoliquito.

PHILADELPHIA, PA (CBS) — Jason Kelce is feeling better, and while he's gaining strength and recovering from hernia surgery on Tuesday, Sept. 23, the Eagles' offensive line is becoming more cohesive.

It couldn't come at a better time, with the Eagles traveling to Dallas on a short week of the NFC East Thanksgiving showdown this Thursday.

"As an offensive line, we're still getting used to that jell and reaching the cohesion we had last year and that is getting better each week," Kelce said. "We won't practice or bang at all this week, so I'll actually have more recovery time this week than I do for most games."

Dallas plays a 4-3 defense and it's a nimble athletic front. The Cowboys do some things schematically that try to confuse offensive lines, which means Kelce will need to quickly decipher what they're trying to do.

"They do some things we have to be ready for, and they have good individual players as well," Kelce said. "Their scheme can make it difficult for an offensive line. Whenever you're in a four-down defense, there aren't as many guys in the tackle box. They're not as big as Tennessee was, but they're a good line. There is lot more opportunity to get to the second level with a four-down front, for sure."

Kelce was pleased overall off the 43-24 win over Tennessee on Sunday. He saw LeSean McCoy make tacklers miss, the defense play stubborn and put pressure on the quarterback and the special teams continue to stand out.

"If we play the way we can play, the way we showed we can play [against the Titans], we're going to be okay," Kelce said. "I like a lot of things that we did on Sunday. It shows we're improving and we're getting there."
