New Tool Unveiled In Battle Against Gun Violence In Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia Ceasefire unveiled a 33-foot long Winnebago RV wrapped in the message "Stop. Shooting. People."
"We're working to reduce the number of homicides, and shootings in particular, in hotspot areas in North Philadelphia. So we'll be travelling in this RV to those hotspot areas," says director Marla Davis Bellamy.
She says the RV will be used as a mobile office as they work to mediate conflicts which can escalate to gun violence.
"We've had block captain meetings up there on the Winnebago itself. We've done some counseling sessions, so it's a very comfortable environment that allows us to move to hotspot areas throughout Philadelphia."
City Council president Darrell Clarke hosted the event, saying, while legislators play an important role, it's the community groups, like Philadelphia Ceasefire, that make the difference on the streets.
