Lockdown Lifted At Pa. University Following Reported Off-Campus Shooting

EDINBORO, Pa., (CBS) -- Police have lifted a lockdown at a university in Erie County, Pennsylvania following a reported off-campus shooting Monday night.

According to Edinboro University's Twitter account, a shooting was reported in area of Water Street.

The university announced an emergency lockdown was effective immediately.

A statement on the university's website and Facebook page reads:

"Emergency lock-down effective immediately. All residence halls, academic buildings, and campus facilities are to be locked down. All doors secured until further. Please stay inside behind locked doors until otherwise notified."

Around 9:45 p.m., the university said police are systematically escorting students from classroom buildings and McComb Fieldhouse to allow them to return to their residence halls. They advise to wait to be escorted. Residence halls remain on lockdown.

The university announced police lifted the lockdown around 11:41 p.m.

Edinboro Borough Police and the Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the shooting.

The university is located in Edinboro, Erie County.
