Police: 4 Injured In Accident Involving School Bus, Vehicle In Mercer County

PRINCETON, NJ (CBS) -- Police say four people were injured following a serious accident involving a school bus and a vehicle in Princeton, Mercer County.

The crash happened at 2:48 p.m. Tuesday on Route 206 north of Hutchinson Drive.

After seeing the pictures, a mother says she's grateful her daughter or another person wasn't killed.

Sandra Molder, a bus aide, was on her route Tuesday when she got the call her daughter, a driver at the same bus company, was in a serious accident in Princeton on Route 206.

"When I first talked to her she was crying a little bit," said the bus driver's mother Sandra Molder. "The bus looked terrible. She was lucky. She was blessed."

The bus was bringing students home from school. Chopper 3 showed all three people on board, including the 44-year-old driver, a 71-year-old bus aide and a 16-year-old student being carried out on stretchers and brought to the University Medical Center at Plainsboro. Police say the bus collided with a white BMW just before 3 p.m. Tuesday, turning it on its side.

"The BMW's front end struck the left front bumper of the bus. The bus, subsequent to impact, flipped over to its right side," said Princeton Police Sergeant Steven Riccitello. "One of the vehicles crossed over the center lines to create the impact. But that's still under investigation."

The 26-year-old driver of the BMW suffered bumps and bruises.

Molder says her daughter was still getting X-rayed late into the night.

"What she told me she was doing pretty good, she was doing good, she was in pain," Molder said.

All three people aboard the school bus have since been released from the hospital. Police are still working to determine who was at fault and if charges or a summons will be issued.
