Attempted Homicide/Suicide In Chester County Leaves 2 Critical

PAOLI, Pa. (CBS) - Tredyffrin Township Police are investigating a homicide/suicide attempt that happened late Saturday night in Paoli, Chester County.

This happened on the 100 unit block of Summit Avenue.

Police say they initially responded to reports of a shooting victim around 11:45 p.m. When police arrived, the victim, John Williams, told them a family member shot him in a dispute.

Police then found the suspect, 70-year-old John Richard Berry, at a different address on the same block. Berry then reportedly discharged his gun numerous times and shot himself in the head.

Both Berry and Williams were taken to Paoli Memorial Hospital Trauma Center where they are both listed in very critical condition.

Police say this appears to be the result of a financial dispute.

The investigation is continuing.
