Phils Fans Longing For Glory Days As Giants Win Another World Series

By Tim Jimenez

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The San Francisco Giants won the World Series yet again Wednesday night as the Phillies try to figure out how to get back.

Since the Phillies last won back in 2008, the Giants have been racking up championships while the arrow has been pointing down for the Phils.

"Look at the Giants -  three times in the last five years," Phillies fan Frank tells KYW Newsradio. "They did it without giving out big contracts like the Phillies have."

"It's gonna take a while for them to get back there because some of the good players are getting old and they have to rebuild," fellow Phils fan George adds. "We had a chance to win a couple but we just gave up the wrong players. You get what you deserve."

They must try to rebuild without now two-time champion and former Phillie Hunter Pence who Frank says should have stayed.

"They gave away a lot to get him and then they traded him away. They (would be) better off signing him."

"Whenever we have a player leave and they go to another team they're picking up rings," said Joshua. "Same thing with Victorino."

In the meantime, fans say their focus is on the football field and the Eagles. And Joshua said he'll stick with his hometown teams through and through even though it is not always easy. "We can be on fire," he said. "And at the same time it seems like we're some kind of rookie high school team."
