Hazing Allegations Discussed At Central Bucks School Board Meeting

By Todd Quinones

DOYESLTOWN, Pa., (CBS) -- New developments in the hazing allegations at Central Bucks West High School.

Coaches of the football team spoke out for the first time Tuesday night.

Eyewitness News reporter Todd Quinones was at tonight's school board meeting.

Alleged hazing included players being told to fondle other players' genitals over their clothes.

Tuesday night the coaching staff is pushing back, defending themselves.

"I love my players. I love the parents and I love my coaches. I'm grateful for them," suspended Central Bucks West head football coach Brian Hensel said.

He spoke for the first time since the hazing allegations surfaced, forcing the cancellation of the rest of the season.

The CB West coach has the support from parents of players who spoke.

"His reputation was great, now it's tarnished by a rush to judgment by an administration that wanted to cover their butts," parent Ed Shields said.

Tuesday night the Central Bucks Superintendent laid out the alleged hazing of rookies.

The most serious involved, a game called slap it, lick it, grab it and fondle it.

"Rookies were made to stand in a circle surrounded by players, and told to slap a player, lick a player's face and grab or fondle players' private area. Again all of this occurred with the players fully clothed," Central Bucks Superintendent David Weitzel said.

Coach Hensel and fellow coaches called this a onetime incident that no one on the staff knew about until October 15th.

It happened during a post scrimmage picnic this summer that was organized by parents.

The alleged hazing of underclassmen took place in the locker room after most of the coaches including Hensel say they had left.

"None of the conduct alleged was severe. It was foolish, and none of it occurred on our watch," assistant coach Joe Wade said.

But school board members disagree.

"Something went wrong that day, and there have to be consequences for that," school board member Stephen Corr said.

The Bucks County district attorney is investigating the alleged hazing. As of now no charges have been filed.
