PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — (Editor’s Note) Stan Hochman, a Daily News sports columnist for 55 years, has been appearing on 94WIP’s morning show for over a year now, settling disputes (and starting new ones) as the “Grand Imperial Poobah.” He brings that persona to on Tuesdays and Thursdays and we welcome input on which issues you want the Poobah to take a good, hard look at. Without further ado, here’s The Poobah.

Phil E. Phan: The Eagles lost a winnable game in Phoenix on Sunday, so who is to blame?

Poobah: Nobody plays the blame game better than the City of Brotherly Love. There’s a long list of suspects, the officials for the clumsy way they handled the game, the guy Chip Kelly hired to handle the challenge-or-no-challenge element, the quarterback for throwing two more interceptions bringing his total to 9, Chip for his play calling including the decision to go for the field goal with two minutes left.

All worthy candidates, but that field goal put the Eagles ahead by 3 and put the outcome in the hands of the defense. Uh oh. The Cardinals score on a 75 yard pass play with John Brown sprinting past a befuddled Nate Allen. Nobody can figure out Allen’s confusion because his responsibility was to keep Brown in front of him instead of biting on an “in” move. Kelly would not blame Allen afterwards and please keep in mind that a couple of weeks ago, the coach twitted the media for being wrong in their criticism of Allen and Cary Williams.

This time, Kelly talked about the turnovers in the red zone, the missed opportunities. The fact is, the Eagles had the lead and then coughed up that long touchdown. End of story. Please don’t take refuge in their 5-and-2 record, because the schedule gets rougher than a stucco bathtub down the stretch.

You can hear Stan “The Grand Imperial Poobah” Hochman on the 94WIP Morning Show every Thursday at 7:20am E.T. Send the Philadelphia sports issues you want The Poobah to tackle to
