Reports: Sixers And Nets Engaged In Trade Talks

By Ray Boyd

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- According to a report from Yahoo Sportsthe Sixers and the Nets are involved in trade discussions involving point guard Marquis Teague. According to the report, the Nets will not receive anything of significance in return for Teague.

Teague was selected with the 29th overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft by the Chicago Bulls.

The Kentucky product is still very young. He left school after his freshman season and is still just 21 years old.

In two seasons in the NBA, Teague has only played in 88 games between Chicago and Brooklyn. He has career averages of 2.3 points, 1.4 assists and one rebound per contest.

The acquisition of Teague could make since as the Sixers have been using their roster over the last two seasons to essentially try out young players to see which ones can stick around and be a part of their long term rebuilding plans. A former first round pick from a strong college program like Kentucky could be a diamond in the rough that could be acquired for very little.

Teague is owed $1.1 million for this upcoming season and has a team option for the following season worth $2 million.

NBA rosters have to be set for Opening Day by October 27th at 5 p.m. ET.
