Bucks County Police Investigate Deadly Beating

By Justin Udo, Steve Patterson

MORRISVILLE, Pa. (CBS) - Police in Bucks County brought two people in for questioning in  connection with a  brutal beating and murder of a man in Morrisville, while they are still searching for a third suspect.

Police say the savage murder took place Sunday at 8:30 a.m. on West Post Road.

They say the victim, a hispanic male in his 30's, was riding in a van with three other men when he was attacked. But thanks to a call from a neighbor who saw everything happen, they were able to quickly track down the vehicle.

"Right now, we have two people in custody and one person that we're going to go looking for," says Morrisville Borough Chief of Police George McClay.

McClay says the victim was found with severe head injuries as well as stab wounds in and around his chest and back:

"Obvioulsy they knew something on him. His head was really encaved badly."

The victim was taken to St. Mary's Hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police say the victim was beaten in broad daylight with some sort of object. Police recovered a screwdriver which was used to stab the victim, but they make it clear it was the beating that caused the death.

McClay says this was not a random crime -- that the victim and the attackers all knew each other and the attack was premeditated.

Typically a quiet neighborhood, this incident happened right across the street from a church. Police say this was the only homicide in the neighborhood this year.

Charges are expected Monday morning as the investigation continues.
