Dodge Durango & Jeep Grand Cherokee Recall

By Jim Donovan: Chrysler is recalling more than 184,000 SUVs worldwide because a wiring problem could disable their air bags and seat belt pretensioners. Pretensioners are the devices that tighten belts during a crash to hold occupants in place.

The faulty occupant restraint control (ORC) modules that may short-circuit are found in certain model-year 2014 Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs. Some model-year 2014 vehicles are affected, others are not.

Chrysler is unaware of any related injuries or accidents. All affected customers will be advised by Chrysler Group when they may schedule service, which involves ORC module replacement. In the interim, customers are advised to use their seatbelts, as always.

Customers with questions may call Chrysler Group's Customer Information Center at 1-800-853-1403.
