TRENTON, N.J., (CBS) — Authorities say a five-year-old girl who was believed to be inside of a stolen vehicle in Trenton, New Jersey has been found safe.

The incident began when police say a 2007 Ford Escape was stolen around 8 p.m. Tuesday at Brunswick Avenue and Race Street with the child believed to be inside.  An Amber Alert was issued.

New Jersey State Police say the girl was found shortly before 11:30 p.m. in the bedroom of her home.

The Amber Alert was then canceled.

At this time, Eyewitness News is told police do not believe the child was ever inside the vehicle.

The incident remains under investigation.
