By The Numbers: Eagles Dominate Giants, Improve To 5-1

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- It was pure domination from start to finish. The Giants never had a chance.

Chip Kelly and the Eagles improved to 5-1 with their 27-0 win over the Giants Sunday night, as they head into their week 7 bye.

Let's take a look at the numbers.

Domination

  • It was the Eagles' first shutout since a 24-0 victory over the Giants in 1996
  • The Eagles have played 301 regular and postseason games since that last shutout
  • The Giants had scored 105 points over their last three games coming into this week
  • The Eagles 27-point margin of victory was their largest over the Giants since 1980...
  • ..and it was the most lopsided shutout in the Eagles-Giants series since 1948

 

Chip Kelly

  • The Eagles have won 10 of their last 13 games...
  • ...and 12 of their last 14 regular season games under Kelly,
  • who is now 15-8 (.652) in the NFL.

 

The Linc

  • The Eagles have won eight straight at Lincoln Financial Field...
  • ...which is their fourth-longest home winning streak...
  • ...and the longest since an 11-game streak from 1991-93.

 

Defense

  • The Eagles had eight sacks, their most in a game since 2011
  • Their five first half sacks was their most before halftime since 2008
  • Last three games: Eagles 16 sacks, opposition 2...
  • ...that's a +14 differential, in case Jason Pierre-Paul reads this
  • The last time the Eagles had at least four sacks in three consecutive games was 2004
  • Eagles are now tied for 2nd most sacks in NFL with 19
  • Bradley Fletcher's forced fumble recovered by the Eagles, extended their takeaway streak to 19 consecutive games...
  • ...their longest takeaway streak since 1995

  • Connor Barwin had three sacks for the second time in his career.
  • Barwin has six sacks this year (all in the last three games)...
  • ...and ranks third in the NFL in that category.
  • Trent Cole, with his sack Sunday night, has 12.5 in his last 15 games, including playoffs
  • Vinny Curry tallied his first-career two-sack game...
  • ...and has four in the last three games
  • Curry, Barwin and Cole each have at least one sack in three straight games.

 

Running Backs

  • LeSean McCoy rushed for a season-high 149 yards...
  • ...the sixth-highest total of his career
  • It was his 20th 100-yard performance, tying him with Brian Westbrook for the second most in Eagles history behind Wilbert Montgomery (26)
  • With 5,895 career rushing yards, McCoy moved past Steve Van Buren and into third on the Eagles all-time rushing yards list
  • Darren Sproles tied a career high with his third rushing touchdown of the season.
  • 10 of Sproles' 67 touches on the season (15%) have gone for 20-or-more yards (five punt returns, three receptions, two rushes)
  • Sproles is averaging 15.6 yards per punt return this season, which is the best single-season average in Eagles history (minimum 15 returns).
