Blog: Devereux Holds Annual Family Conference 10/18

By Jim Donovan: Devereux, a leading national nonprofit behavioral healthcare organization, is holding its third annual Family Resilience Conference in Philadelphia, October 18, 2014 at Saint Joseph's University's Kinney Center for Autism Education and Support from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This year's theme, "Accepting and Supporting Our Children's Differences: Building Resilient Families," is designed to recognize the many differences across families, but yet provide a unifying resource through resilience support tools.

The conference includes interactive workshops led by industry thought leaders, a parent panel, exhibitor tables staffed by representatives from local providers and resource tables packed with valuable information on a wide range of subjects. The interactive workshops will address estate planning; supporting families with mental health and substance abuse challenges; making sense of medication; IEPs and transition planning; and supporting LGBT individuals, their families, and friends.

The FREE, public event will feature keynote speaker Andrew Solomon, New York Times best-selling author of Far from the Tree: Parents, Children and the Search for Identity, and is designed to help spread acceptance and support for every family, regardless of challenges or differences.

All families are welcome to attend, and complementary childcare will be available on-site. Children's entertainment will also be provided by Music Works and the Philadelphia Zoo.

Space is limited and registration is required for the conference. For more information visit: http://www.devereux.org/site/PageServer?pagename=resilient_families
