Lewd Email Scandal In Harrisburg Continues To Grow

By Justin Udo

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The scandal over lewd emails in the Pennsylvania State Attorney General's office has already brought the resignation of two state officials. Many are now calling for an outside investigation into just what's going on.

When Governor Tom Corbett and Linda Kelly served as Attorney General there were allegedly hundreds of sexually explicit emails sent and received by state employees who worked under them.

Now, as the names of those officials say are involved are released, some are resigning from their positions and others are standing up against the charges.

"Fairness now dictates that we get any potential political dimension out of this completely," says Terry Madonna with Franklin and Marshall College. "Let's get an independent investigator and a full report."

Madonna says this is not a cut and dry case.

"For some of the individuals involved, there is no evidence that they even opened the email," he says. "Plus, what if you open them because you weren't completely aware of what was in the email and then deleted them?"

Madonna says as of now, it doesn't look like state laws were violated, but these emails do go against Attorney General office policy.
