Area Car Dealers Distributing More Winter Coats To Needy Kids

By Mike DeNardo

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It'll be a warmer winter for thousands of children in the Delaware Valley, thanks once again to a group of local car dealers.

Kids arrived today at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, ready to pick out their new, free coats.

Ludlow School second-grader Sanai Clark knew what she wanted.

"I want a blue and orange one," she said.

Her classmate, Jada Hicks, says she has three coats at home but describes them as "kinda broken."  So, she said, "I'm going to get one because it's very cold in winter."

Kevin Mazzucola, executive director of the Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Foundation, says the group is giving away more than 37,000 coats to needy kids this winter, through schools, shelters, and social service agencies.

"Whoever thought it would be so cool to give the gift of warmth?" he said today.
