Search For Police Shooting Suspect Hits 3rd Week

CANADENSIS, Pa. (AP) — Police say the 2-week-old search for the suspect in the deadly ambush of Pennsylvania state police troopers is continuing in the heavily wooded area that has become the manhunt's focus.

Trooper Adam Reed says investigators have no new information to release Saturday.

Authorities said Friday the hard drive of a computer used by suspect Eric Frein provides evidence he has been planning an attack for years. They say Frein's Internet searches included sites on how to avoid police manhunts.

Investigators say Frein opened fire on the state police barracks in Blooming Grove on Sept. 12. Cpl. Bryon Dickson was killed and a second trooper was seriously wounded.

Authorities believe they have Frein contained within a 5-square-mile area around his parents' home in Canadensis.
