Berks County Theater Director Accused Of Inappropriate Relationship With Teen

BIRDSBORO, Pa. (CBS) – A 55-year-old man is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old male in Berks County.

Police say the suspect, Mark Drey, is the director of the Alpha/Omega Players, a community theater group that stages youth and children's theater productions.

The suspect reportedly sent numerous cell phone photos of his genitals to the boy, who was a part of the theater group, starting around March 2014. Drey also allegedly sent texts to the victim that were sexual in nature, and, on at least two occasions, either the suspect touched Drey's genitals or vice versa.

Earlier in September, Drey was brought in for questioning. A police report says he apparently told officers the victim had questions about his sexuality and also had a crush on him.

"It turned weird," Drey reportedly told police, before admitting to "sexting" with the victim.

Drey is now facing numerous charges, including corruption of a minor, indecent assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact the Berks County Detectives Office at 610-478-7171.
