WCU Looks For 3-0 Start Saturday At Seton Hill

By Matt Leon

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- Division II West Chester will look to stay perfect on Saturday evening as they travel across Pennsylvania to visit Seton Hill.

The 10th-ranked Golden Rams improved to 2-0 last week with a 38-14 win at home against Mercyhurst.

"I thought our defense really played well," West Chester head coach Bill Zwaan tells KYW Newsradio. "They made some big plays, caused some turnovers. Made a lot of 4th down stops when they needed too. Really our first group didn't give up any points, we fumbled the ball and they ran one in and then they scored on us late against the second group. So our first defense really, really played well."

On offense, it was a big day for junior tight end Tim Brown. He caught 5 passes for 77 yards and a pair of touchdowns as he continues to emerge as a key piece of the West Chester attack.

"Sean McCartney our quarterback looks for him in certain situations," Zwaan says. "And, of course, we run some plays to try and get him open. He can really run routes, boy, he is an excellent pass catcher at the tight end position."

Seton Hill is coached by former Widener head coach Isaac Collins, who is in his second season. In his first, the Griffins went 1-10. But they have already matched that win total here in 2014 by splitting their first two games. The win came last week against Lock Haven.

"He played a lot of young guys last year and they took a little hit for it," Zwaan says. "But that's going to help them this year because a lot of those guys are back and they are better players now. He brought in a few transfer kids, some two-year college transfer guys, who are pretty good athletes. And I think once they kind of get that mix together later on this season, I think they are going to be a pretty good football team. So right now we are a little concerned about them, because our guys look at their record from last year and don't really realize that this team's got a chance to be pretty good."

West Chester will kickoff at 6:00pm in Greensburg, Pennsylvania.
