Report: Rutgers AD Julie Hermann Made Sandusky Joke At Staff Meeting

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- Rutger Athletic Director Julie Hermann was talking about "reaching out and touching the donors" of the program in a private staff meeting last fall, and she jokingly said to not do it "in a Sandusky way, according to a NJ.com report.

Multiple employees anonymously told NJ.com about the tasteless pun made by Hermann. One employee said Hermann told the staff, "We have to reach out to our donors, fans, everyone, and we need to touch them. Not in a Jerry Sandusky-type way."

"There probably isn't a person alive today who hasn't made an impromptu remark in a private meeting that probably shouldn't have been said," senior vice president for external affairs, Pete McDonough told NJ.com, acknowledging Hermann made the remark. "Even taken out of context, this single comment was not directed at Penn State, its students, staff or faculty.''

This report comes out just a few days after Hermann apologized for the actions of Rutgers fans, who made classless Sandusky jokes during a game against Penn State last Saturday.
