Major Repaving Project Set To Begin In Bucks County

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- A major repaving job was scheduled to begin Monday morning in Central Bucks County thanks to the state's new transportation plan that allows PennDOT to tap into more than $2-billion for road and bridge improvements.
The nearly six-mile stretch of Route 232, Windy Bush Road, between Route 413 in Wrightstown and River Road in New Hope hasn't been repaved in more than a decade. It took a real beating this past winter with drivers dodging numerous potholes which were filled with temporary fixes. PennDOT Secretary Barry Schoch says this $1.4-million project will mean some delays and detours for drivers.
"It was originally scheduled to be completed in late October," he says, "and we moved the completion date up to early October by allowing the contractor to shut it down temporarily during the day, off peak from 9 (a.m.) to 3 (p.m.)."
There were other projects scheduled to start today as well. $5-million will be spent to rehab Street Road between Bustleton Pike and Route 611 in Bucks County and $5-million will be used to rehab Huntingdon Pike from Fox Chase Road to Philmont Avenue in Montgomery County.
