Man Arrested For Impersonating NJ Cop, Assaulting Woman

TRENTON, N.J. (CBS) – A man police say told a clerk at a store in Trenton, New Jersey he was a cop, then assaulted her, has been arrested.

Police say 54-year-old Gustavo Garcia entered the store located on the 800 block of South Broad Street Saturday around 1 p.m. He told the female clerk he was a police officer, then physically and sexually assaulted her in the bathroom. He was armed with a handgun.

Trenton Police arrested Garcia Sunday. He is charged with four counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault, Sexual Assault, and Impersonating a Police Officer in connection with the Sexual Assault, among other charges.

Garcia is being held on $500,000 cash bail.
