PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — The Phillies will wrap up a quick two game set against the Angels tonight out in Anaheim looking to bounce back after a 7-2 loss in the series opener last night.

The Phillies actually led that game 2-0 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning, but then the wheels feel off the wagon as the Angels scored seven runs in the frame. Five of the tallies were charged to losing pitcher Antonio Bastardo.

A.J. Burnett will get the start for the Phillies. The veteran right-hander is 6-12 this season and he has really struggled here as of late. In his last 5 starts, Burnett is 0-4 with a 6.66 ERA. In his career against the Angels, Burnett is 2-3 in 9 starts with a 4.81 ERA.

The Angels will give the ball to RHP Jered Weaver. He is 12-7 this season with a 3.68 ERA. Tonight will be just his second career start against the Angels. He won the first back in 2008.

The Phillies are 53-67 this season and they sit in last place, 12½ games out of first in the National League East.

The Angels are 69-49 and that’s good for second place in the American League West. They sit 3½ games behind first place Oakland.

KYW’s Matt Leon spoke with Stephen Gross of the Allentown Morning Call about the Phillies and tonight’s match-up.
