Police: Suspect Assaults, Then Robs Woman Who Allegedly Bumped Into Him While Exiting SEPTA Trolley

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Philadelphia police are searching for a suspect they say assaulted and robbed a woman in West Philadelphia.

The alleged assault happened on July 10th around 5:35 p.m. The female victim was exiting the trolley at 4700 Baltimore Avenue when she reportedly bumped into a man standing in the doorway.

That man then threw a cup at her, police say, and followed her off the trolley, striking her once with a closed fist.

The suspect then grabbed the woman's headphones and, after a brief struggle, entered the trolley briefly before fleeing on foot towards 46th Street.

The victim was treated at the University of Pennsylvania, where she required two stitches to her lip.

The suspect is described as a black male who is about 20 years old with a thin build. He's approximately 5'11" and clean shaven and was wearing a dark t-shirt with writing on the front, black shorts and a multicolored backpack with thin shoulder straps.

Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call police.
