Hernandez Gets The Ball For Phils vs. Giants

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Phillies and Giants will continue their four-game series tonight at Citizens Bank Park.

The Phillies lost the opener last night 7-4 as Cliff Lee took the loss in his return from the disabled list, allowing 6 runs on 12 hits in 5 2/3 innings of work.

That defeat left the Phillies 43-56 for the season and they are now 12 games out of first in National League East.

Roberto Hernandez will start tonight's game for the Phillies. The veteran right-hander is 4-8 this season with a 4.22 ERA. His last start was his best one in a Phillies uniform as he allowed just a run on three hits in eight innings of work in a 4-1 win over Milwaukee on July 9th.

In two career starts against San Francisco, Hernandez is 0-1 with a 5.06 ERA.

The Giants will counter on the mound with right-hander Yusmeiro Petit. He is 3-3 this season with a 3.86 ERA.
