Houses Going Up For Sale Along Nation's Oldest Residential Street

By Michelle Durham

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - It's a history-making event on a street that is no stranger to history.

Historic Elfreth's Alley, in the heart of Old City Philadelphia -- the oldest residential street in the country -- currently has three homes for sale at the same time.

Realtor Mike McCann of Prudential Fox and Roach Realtors says it's a first as far as he's concerned.

"The market is better and the people that have put off selling are seeing what things are selling for.  First time for three (on Elfreth's Alley) that I can recall in 25 years that I have been doing it -- at one time on this block."

McCann describes the features of 123 Elfreth's Alley, currently on the market for $795,000: "It's about a two hundred year old home. This is the baker's house. It's about 2,600 square feet."

McCann says the other two home prices are $850,000 and $650,000. Owners are not permitted to change the exterior in any way but can remodel inside to their heart's content.  He sold two homes on this block last year.
