Fans Gearing Up for U.S. World Cup Game

By Tim Jimenez

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - It's game day as the U.S is set to take on Portugal in the World Cup.

A World Cup block party is taking place in Center City and a lot of local soccer die-hards got the party started early on Sunday, and they weren't afraid to show their true colors.

Along the 1500 block of Locust Street, many were dressed to impress with patriotism in mind.

"Got me a blue top hat. Some America shades, going all out with the bandana," says Brandon, who had a red, white and blue body suit.

Nate from Philadelphia also had a body suit and patriotic fanny pack/

"The bowtie has got the blue and white, the stars, and a blinking red light on it that really adds that touch. It's Gucci. I'm wearing Gucci," he explained

Nate may be exaggerating a bit about his attire, but not about his pride.

"This thing comes around once every four years," he said. "It's a great feeling. It's very exciting. The city really gets into it. The country really gets into it."

And many fans offered their predictions to KYW Newsradio.

"It's the whole common theme of the World Cup that anything can happen."

"I do believe they will win. I believe that they will win."

"Go USA!"
