Mike Trout Becomes First MLB Player Since Ken Griffey Jr. To Have Signature Nike Shoe
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Mike Trout is currently in his third Major League season and at the age of 22-years-old, he has already cemented himself as one of baseball's best players. Now the two-time All-Star, two-time Silver Slugger, and 2012 American League rookie of the year, can add another accomplishment to his young resume: his own Nike cleat.
On Friday, Major League baseball announced Trout has become the first MLB player to own his own signature shoe. Trout tweeted a picture of the shoe with the caption, "...HONORED. @nikebaseball."
Nike baseball shared two videos of the Millville, New Jersey native's new signature red and lime green cleat, called the Nike Lunar Vapor Trout, below:
The Nike Lunar Vapor Trout will be available in select stores starting on July 12. Every high school baseball player in Millville, NJ will likely own a pair.
