PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Eagles second-year offensive tackle, Lane Johnson, tweeted out a picture of his tab from a rookie dinner at Del Frisco’s Steak House in Philadelphia. The total of the tab was $17,474, which included items like a $3,945 bottle of wine.
With bullying issues and rookie hazing prevalent in the NFL recently, Johnson’s tweet immediately went viral and the large rookie bill quickly became a controversial topic. Forcing rookies to pick up dinner tabs has been a common tradition in the NFL, but Johnson later clarified in another tweet that he voluntarily treated his fellow offensive-lineman to dinner.
