On National Moonshine Day, Philadelphia Authorities Announce Arrests Of 3 Men For Allegedly Running Illegal Speakeasies

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Two Philadelphia businesses have been accused of running illegal speakeasies.

Café Italia, at 1424 Snyder Avenue, and Mediterranean's of Couth Philly, at 1426 McKean Street, were targeted by authorities as a result of an investigation.

On Wednesday, June 4th, search warrants were served at both locations and as a result, three men were arrested.

Tonino Irace, a 69-year-old from Glenolden, was charged with Illegal Liquor Sales and Criminal Conspiracy.

Sixty-six-year-old Canio Pascale, of Philadelphia, was also charged with Illegal Liquor Sales and Criminal Conspiracy.

Zoheir Mouloudj, a 44-year-old from Philadelphia, was charged with Illegal Liquor Sales.

The arrests were announced on June 5th – National Moonshine Day.
