First Ever Dog Jog 5K In Phoenixville Is Saturday June 7th

By John Ostapkovich

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Lace up your sneaks for a run/walk this Saturday June 7th that is BYOD -- bring your own dog. It's the first ever Dog Jog at Reeves Park in Phoenixville, raising money for The Spayed Club which offers low cost pet spaying and neutering.

"We kick off at 8:30 a.m," event coordinator Jody Lyon said. "That's when the run and walk start at the same time, but we're opening an hour early at 7:30 for all registrants to come in and check in with us and to get their bibs and their tee shirts."

Debby Boyd, the Spayed Club's marketing director, says some potential clients need extra help.

"We often have pet owners who can't pay our low-cost spay-neuter fee and we have a number of programs to assist those who need additional assistance," Boyd said.

Some of the money raised will go to that purpose.

You can do the 5K run or 1K walk with or without your pooch. And since there will be 12 animal rescue groups there, you could even go home with an extra best friend.
