Phillies Sign RHP Jason Marquis To Minor League Deal
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Phillies signed right-handed starting pitcher Jason Marquis to a minor league deal on Tuesday.
Marquis will report to Clearwater, Florida on Wednesday for extended Spring Training.
Marquis, 35, was 9-5 with a 4.05 ERA in 20 starts with the San Diego Padres before having Tommy John surgery in 2013.
ESPN.com senior baseball writer Jayson Stark, who is from Philadelphia, tweeted Marquis may plug a hole in the Phillies starting rotation if the team decided to trade a starting pitcher before the July 31st trade deadline.
