Police: Mom Accidentally Backs Car Into Toddler In Egg Harbor Township

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBS)–Egg Harbor Township Police rushed to the scene after a child was struck by a vehicle Tuesday afternoon.

The accident happened on Flatbush Avenue in Egg Harbor Township.

According to police, a mother was backing out of the driveway and accidentally struck her 14-month-old daughter and pinned her.

Neighbors saw what had happened and lifted the car off of the child. They tell CBS 3 that the child was alert and crying and the mother was shaken and very distraught.

The mother and her child were both airlifted to Cooper Hospital.

Police are on the scene searching the car, trying to get more information.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
