Phillies Host Mike Trout And The Angels

By Matt Leon

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Phillies return home and return to interleague play tonight as they open a quick two-game series with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Of course the Angels are led by Millville native Mike Trout. The 2012 Rookie of the Year is hitting .272 this season with seven home runs. This will be his first-ever game at Citizens Bank Park as a Major Leaguer and he actually comes to town in a bit of a slump. Trout is just 4 for his last 34.

Cliff Lee will get the start for the Phillies. He is 3-3 this season with a 3.64 ERA. Last time out he allowed just one earned run over the first six innings against the Blue Jays in Toronto. Unfortunately, he came out to start the seventh and that ended up being a nine run frame which led to a 10-0 loss. Lee allowed six runs for the night in 6 1/3 innings. In his career Lee is 7-4 against the Angels in 12 starts with a 2.95 ERA.

The Angels counter on the mound with RHP Matt Shoemaker. This will be his first start of the season and just the second of his Major League career.  He has made three appearances out of the bullpen here in 2014, going 0-1 with a 4.05 ERA in 6.2 innings.

Here is the line-up for the Phillies:

1. Ben Revere             CF
2. Jimmy Rollins          SS
3. Chase Utley            2B
4. Ryan Howard          1B
5. Marlon Byrd            RF
6. Domonic Brown      LF
7. Carlos Ruiz              C
8. Cody Asche            3B
9. Cliff Lee                   P
