Waitin' On Bacon: Organizers Postpone Pa. Bacon Festival, Citing Logistics

By Hadas Kuznits

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The Pennsylvania Bacon Festival, scheduled to take place tomorrow (Saturday) has been postponed.

Evan Weinstein, a partner at J&E Food Events says his Bacon Festival event was scheduled to take place at the Piazza at Schmidt's in Northern Liberties, "But then we really started to look at it and look at how the flow of the event would be. Like, how would the lines form at the vendors and things like that and what it would look like when those things happened. And we realized, 'woah, like we're going to have a problem here.'"

So, the event was postponed until early October. He says they're still looking for an outdoor venue in Philadelphia and they'll announce the exact date and place next week on the Bacon Festival website.

"It was obviously a mistake on our part. Our vision for it, fitting into the Piazza, wasn't exactly as accurate as it should've probably been, and we kind of realized in order to produce the event we envisioned, it would be a mess, essentially."

Anyone who would like to return their ticket for a refund is being allowed to do so.
