Eagles Hold Pick #22 In First Round Of NFL Draft

By Matt Leon

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The 2014 NFL Draft gets underway tonight as the first round is held in New York City.

The Eagles currently hold the 22nd pick in the first round, it is one of six picks owned by the Eagles. They have one in every round but the 6th.

Last season the Eagles held the #4 overall pick and took OT Lane Johnson who went on to start all 16 games at right tackle. He was the cornerstone of a very productive 2013 draft class for the Eagles that also included TE Zach Ertz, DL Bennie Logan and S Earl Wolff.

The 2012 draft was even better as the Eagles nabbed DL Fletcher Cox in the first round and complimented  his selection with later choices LB Mychal Kendricks, DL Vinny Curry, QB Nick Foles and CB Brandon Boykin.

As far as what to expect from the Eagles this year, wide receiver and the secondary are obvious needs. The Eagles could also stand to add offensive line depth and more pieces for the front seven on defense wouldn't hurt.

And then there are the Johnny Manziel rumors.

KYW's Matt Leon spoke with Comcast Sportsnet's Ray Didinger about what to expect from the Eagles as the draft gets underway.
