A Battle Of The Seasons, With A Summer-Like Surge!

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --  This week spring and summer will face-off and you may be surprised at the winner.

For now, cool, dry air is over the Delaware Valley and a summer-like air mass sprawls in the south.

Expect pleasant conditions Tuesday, with sunshine and highs around 70 degrees.

But then a warm air mass approaches Wednesday.  High clouds will increase ahead of this "warm front", then showers will arrive at night.  Highs Wednesday will be in the upper 60s.

The warm front will push through the region Thursday keeping a chance of a few showers, especially in the morning.  Highs will rise into the low 70s.

After that, summer wins out.

A large ridge in the jet stream will slide over the East Coast late this week.

It will drive warm air over us Friday and with enough sunshine, highs will make it to around 80 degrees.

The warm air mass hangs around for the weekend, however, there will be some shower chances both Saturday and Sunday.
