Montgomery County High School Senior Gets Surprise Of A Lifetime At Prom

By Justin Udo

FLOURTOWN, PA. (CBS) -- A Flourtown, Pennsylvania high school student got the prom surprise of a lifetime Friday night when her superstar crush showed up and boogied down the whole night long.

A few months ago, Mount Saint Joseph Academy senior Carly Monzo sent a video to Olympic gold medalist Shaun White, asking him to the prom. She thought nothing of it until prom night at the Whitemarsh Valley Country Club.

"At prom they called me up," Monzo says. "They were like, 'Carly Monzo, where's Carly Monzo?' And I was like 'Oh my goodness, what did I do?' I literally thought I was in trouble."

And when she came to the front, Carly got the surprise of a lifetime.

"It was crazy," she says. "On the stage that was there -- they just dropped the curtains.  I turned around. I was speechless."

There, standing in front of her, was Shaun White. And not only did Carly get to dance with Shaun, but the other students at the prom were all treated to a performance from his band Bad Things.

"I was just kind of dancing next to him," she says, "and he was jamming out and I was jamming out and I was singing the lyrics."

Monzo says her original prom date was a good sport about the whole thing and he was kind of excited to be upstaged by Shaun White.
