Family Who Lost Dog In Hurricane Sandy Reunited With Him Over A Year Later At SPCA

EATONTOWN, N.J. (CBS) -- Imagine losing your dog during Hurricane Sandy, one of the worst storms to hit New Jersey in decades.

It was a heartbreaking experience for one local family.

After searching for months and finally giving up hope, a year and a half later they decided they were ready to adopt another dog.

According to Monmouth County SPCA, they came in and met with an adoption counselor and planned to meet some dogs to see which would be a good fit.

The SPCA says they brought in the first candidate and it was the family's missing dog from over a year and a half ago.

According to the SPCA, the dog had come in November and always appeared to be waiting for his family.

Volunteers have said that he seemed like he was always looking for someone, and now they know who.

Lucas, who's real name is Reckless, was just waiting for his family.
