Weekend Weather Trifecta

By Katie Fehlinger

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Anyone else squealing with glee in anticipation of the weekend?

It's wonderful just to have great weather in the forecast, but the weekend timing? Well, that's gravy!

Friday features more clouds than anything, but a weak cold front will eventually cross the region and help trigger some showers toward evening (especially in the northwest half of the Delaware Valley). Some of that rain could be steady.

By the time you're waking up Saturday morning, that front is long gone. High pressure settles in quickly and we end up with an AWESOME day. I like to call it the weather trifecta: bright sunshine, comfortable temperatures and light wind are all in store Saturday.

We're in the midst of a somewhat fast flow in the atmosphere, so a warm front will already be approaching Sunday. Of course, that means it's even warmer! Our high should hit the mid 70's. However, we also keep the sun since any wet weather should stay primarily to our west. Another warm day is on tap Monday with the high expected to reach 76 (still with some sunshine).

By Tuesday, our next potent system moves in and will trigger heavy rain and wind. We'll also see a significant drop on the thermometer. Temperatures are more seasonable Tuesday in the mid 60's, but we're back to the chilly mid 50's midweek.

Have a great weekend!

Katie
