Local Non-Profit Gets Extra Help During National Volunteer Week
By Justin Udo
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - National Volunteer Week is in full swing, and at Philabundance -- a place that heavily relies on volunteers -- this week is much needed.
Last year, Philabundance and its 17,000 volunteers were able to help distribute 30 million pounds of food to hungry mouths throughout the Delaware Valley.
"Having volunteers here is really critical to the work that we do," says Marlo DelSordo with Philabundance. "They sort and pack food and get it out to families in the community that are struggling."
DelSordo says they're getting to the time of year when extra help around the facility hits a low, so this week comes at just the right time:
"We have a full house of people coming in this week and we're hoping that everybody that hears about the great work of volunteer appreciation week will continue to volunteer."
Philabundance takes volunteers of all ages. For a a list of ways you can contact Philabundance about volunteer opportunities, CLICK HERE.
