Montco Attorney Pleads Guilty to Dealing Prescription Drugs

By Brad Segall

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- A former criminal defense attorney in Montgomery County could be looking at several years behind bars after admitting in court today that he illegally sold prescription painkillers to a cop during an undercover investigation.

Greg Noonan was arrested last December after selling more than three hundred oxycodone pills to an undercover police officer on two occasions in Norristown (see related story).   Both times the sales were within 1,000 feet of a school.

This morning, the 53-year-old Lansdale, Pa. man pleaded guilty to charges that include possession with intent to deliver and dealing in unlawful proceeds.

"It's extremely disappointing to see an officer of the court engage in this kind of behavior," Montgomery County prosecutor Jason Whalley said today, "and it proves that no one is above drug dealing.  It's very serious, especially when you're dealing with prescription pills."

Noonan is facing a maximum of 47 years in prison, and a couple of the charges carry mandatory minimums.

On the way out of the courtroom, Noonan -- who has been disbarred by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court -- says he accepts responsibility for what he did.
