April Showers Making Themselves Known

By Kate Bilo

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It has been a cold and dreary Friday across the region, with spotty sprinkles around, and more may roll through before we kickstart our weekend!

If you have Friday night plans in the city, make sure you grab the umbrella so you don't get damp on your way to dinner.

It's been a prevailing east wind today in Philadelphia, and an east wind is always Bad News Bears, especially this time of the year. Cool, moist air makes its way across New Jersey and into the Philadelphia area, keeping all of us damp and chilly. A few showers and maybe a rumble of thunder can be expected before things wind down overnight.

The good news is that the weekend is squeezed between systems, and we can expect a good deal of sunshine both days! Tomorrow will be blustery, with wind gusts to 30mph, so it may feel a little colder than the thermometer tells you, but the wind will die down Sunday and with highs near 60 both days, overall it will be a pleasant early spring weekend.

Enjoy it while you can, because another moisture-rich system arrives late Monday, with rain possible during the Phillies home opener and the heaviest overnight into Tuesday morning! April showers are really making themselves known this week!
