Temple Announces Plans For 'Spring Fling' Alternative

By Paul Kurtz

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - At Temple University, Student Activities officials have announced an alternative to the controversial Spring Fling.

Cherry-On Experience Day will be held from 4 to 8 pm on Saturday, April 12th. Geasy Field will be the venue for the event that will feature music, food and laser tag.

"I would be interested in that. Sounds pretty cool. Laser tag? I love laser tag."

That's one satisfied customer. But this tamer, alchohol-free event also has some students grumbling.

"I wish we still had Spring Fling," Temple freshman Luke said. "Yeah, me too," his friend Allie said. "We're both freshman so we never got to experienced it."

Last year's fling was marred by a tragic accident (see related story). A 19-year-old West Chester student visiting friends plunged to her death while partying on the roof of an off campus rowhouse.
