Police: Suspect Sought in String of Adult Store Robberies in Center City

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Philadelphia Police are searching for a suspect wanted in connection with a string of adult store robberies in Washington Square.

On February 27th at 2:30 p.m., police say a male entered the Spruce Street Video Store at the 200 block of S. 12th Street and engaged the clerk in a conversation for a short time, asking about the pricing of the items. According to police, the suspect then left the store and returned about 10 minutes later with his face partially covered and armed with a handgun.

When the clerk ran to the back of the store, police say the suspect allegedly grabbed the cash register, slamming it on the floor forcing it open, taking an undetermined amount of money. The male then fled the store in an unknown direction.

On March 10th at 4:30 p.m., police say a male entered the Scorpio Boutique & Book store located at the 200 block of S. Juniper Street allegedly pointing a handgun at an employee demanding money. After the suspect was handed an undisclosed amount of money from the register, police say he fled the store and was last seen south on Juniper Street.

On March 21st at 8:23 p.m., police say a male entered the Scorpio Adult Store with his face partially covered, allegedly pointing a handgun at the clerk demanding money from the cash register. Before leaving the store, police say the suspect also took the clerk's laptop from the counter. The male then fled and was last seen south on Juniper Street.

On March 25th at 12:56 p.m., police say a male entered the Danny's Adult Store located at unit block of South 13th Street. According to police, his face was partially covered and he was armed with a handgun, demanding money. Police say the clerk opened the cash register drawer and placed an unknown amount of money in a brown paper bag. The suspect then fled the store and was last seen south on 13th Street.

Police describe the suspect as a Black male, 30-to-35 years-of-age, 6'0", medium to stocky build, 180 to 200 pounds, wearing a light tan jacket or a black winter jacket with hooded a sweatshirts underneath, dark colored jeans, and dark colored boots possibly two–tone, and armed with a handgun.
