Bill Clinton To Headline Fundraiser For Local Democratic Candidate

By Brad Segall

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Democratic primary in the 13th Congressional District is expected to be hotly contested and one of the candidates is bringing in a heavy hitter next month to raise some cash.

Former President Bill Clinton will headline a fundraiser for Marjorie Margolies at the Warwick Hotel in Center City.

Tickets for the event are reportedly priced at $5,000 and $1,000. Margolies is trying to regain the seat she lost in the mid-nineties after casting a vote for then President Clinton's budget proposal that raised taxes on the wealthy.

Montgomery County Commissioner Josh Shapiro is co-hosting the event. He says, "At the end of the day I believe that Marjorie will come out on top and I think she's the right candidate at the right time and having President Clinton's support will be tremendous."

Three others have filed to run in the primary. Margolies and Clinton are in-laws. Her son married Chelsea in 2010.
