Police Searching For Suspects In Violent Torresdale Home Invasion Robbery

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia police are looking for the men who stabbed a 54-year-old man during a home invasion robbery in Torresdale Wednesday night.

It happened in the 9300 block of Walker Street just before 11 p.m.

Authorities say two men followed the victim home, forced their way into his apartment and then stabbed him in the chest with a knife from the kitchen during a scuffle.

Fortunately, the victim pressed a medic alert button that was on a table in his home.

The suspects heard approaching sirens, grabbed an iPad and some oxycodone pills before running off.

First responders were able to get the victim to Aria Health-Torresdale in stable condition. He has been treated and released.

The victim has a tracheotomy tube in his neck and a feeding tube in his stomach, so he had trouble communicating with first responders.

Chief Inspector Scott Small says there were obvious signs of a struggle inside the apartment -- broken glass, knocked over furniture and a knife on the floor near where the victim sleeps.

There is a camera at the main entrance of the complex. Police are looking through surveillance video in hopes of identifying the suspects.
